Queen Charlotte Islands Fishing

a beautiful queen charlotte islands king salmonThe MV Salmon Seeker is a guided resort where guests experience up to 10 hours per day of Queen Charlotte Islands fishing. Our expert guides are relentless, changing tactics for working bait balls, adjusting trolling speeds, depths and gear to make your fishing experience memorable. Constant reports from other guides keep you informed on the hottest bites and best techniques to raise your chances of success on the water.

While fishing at the MV Salmon Seeker, you fish from 20’ Boston Whaler Outrages with your partner and guide. The 150hp 4-stroke smokeless Yamaha motors, plus 8.0hp4-stroke Yamaha kickers, give you great access to a range of fishing hotspots along the coast.

Islander MR2 Penn 320 LD double-action reels with 30 lb. Maxima and 40 lb. Triple fish line round out the equation. If you want to target massive halibut that call the waters of the west coast of the Queen Charlotte Islands home, the Salmon Seeker provides 6’ Shimano TLC 66-H rods and Shimano TLD 20 reels. Eagle Fisheasy 2 Sounders, Icom 402S VHF radios and Garmin GPS 152 are included in each boat.

Each trip begins with an orientation by the Chief Steward and the Head Guide, providing information about weather conditions, halibut and salmon fishing hot spots, and general resort orientation. After orientation, you are introduced to your guide and begin your fishing adventure.

Masterfisherman Club

Oak Bay Marine Group believes in celebrating spectacular fish and the anglers who catch them. The exclusive Masterfisherman Club honours Chinook/King salmon over 50 lbs, Coho/Silvers over 20 pounds and halibut that top the scales at over 100 lbs. Each angler who catches one to these trophy fish is awarded the title Masterfisherman. He or she is recognized by the captain at dinner, given a hat and pin, has his or her name engraved on the resort plaque and receives 10,000 Fanatic Fishing Points. It’s an honour that most aim for but only a select few achieve.
