E-mail from guests Mark & Jack Johnson,

Jack and I had a great time at the MV Salmon Seeker. We both caught so many springs that we were sore and retuned home with our limits!!!

We also caught a 57lb. and a 38lb. Halibut. Our weekend trip from July 29-August 1, 2011 was a trip of a lifetime!

Coho Everywhere

Trip 22 guests were in high spirits when they arrived at the MV Salmon Seeker. The Boudreau Group fishing derby participants were eager to catch ‘The Big One’ but Mother Nature had other ideas as everyone was restricted to the Inlet with high winds but many Coho and Chinook were still caught despite the choppy seas.

Day three was a different matter as three new Captain’s Club members were added to the scrolls and many 29 lb. Chinook tipped the scales. Coho are everywhere, so a catch and release program was required.

Clint Capton is the winner of the coveted Oak Bay Clock award with his 38lb Chinook.

Father Son Masterfishermen Awards

The guests from trip 21 rounded out their fifth day of fishing with good weather and 10 new Captain's Club members and two new Masterfisherman.

We have five new Captain's Club members for catching a salmon over 30lbs and five for reeling in a Halibut over 50lbs. The Father and Son combo of Perre-Paul and Felix Allard both became Masterfisherman on the same day at the same spot with Pierre pulled in a 140lb + Halibut and Felix hauling in a 180lb + Halibut but once their catches were confirmed to be over 100lbs both anglers released their trophy fish.

There was a tie for the largest salmon of the trip and the prized Oak Bay Clock as both Paul Campbell and Richard Francis landed 35lb Chinook.

Latest Report

Our guests from trip 21 were greeted with the first wet and windy weather pattern of the month, however, it didn’t dampen their fishing in any way as we welcomed 14 new members to the Captain's Club and a Masterfisherman award at the half way mark of the trip. Day 3 saw them wake up to sunny skies and 1 meter seas... perfect fishing conditions at Kano. The Masterfisherman award went to Paul Campbell for hauling in a 120 lb. halibut. There are some Coho in the 15 – 17 lb range showing and many tyees up here at the Seeker.

The weekend warriors from trip 20 were greeted with amazing weather as there was a light westerly breeze and the sea was almost calm with mostly sunny skies and a few showers. The great fishing continues with 92 Coho ( some over 15lbs.) and 92 Chinook taken over the weekend. There were 7 Captains’ Club for halibut, 8 Captains’ Club for salmon and 5 Masterfisherman for hauling in halibut over 100lbs. The MFs’ were Elgin Duke 106lbs., Kerim Ozcan 130lbs., Jeff Sybert and Ivan Duke with 153lbs. and Steve Bushie and his 209 lb. giant! The winner of the coveted Oak Bay clock award for catching the largest salmon of the trip went to Kerim Ozcan whose salmon tipped the scales at 43 lbs! Just another great time here at Kano Inlet aboard the MV Salmon Seeker.

Memorable Fishing Adventure

Trip 19 guests all have had a memorable fishing adventure as they all limited out on salmon. There were 13 more Captains’ club members added to our list, six for catching salmon 30lbs. and over, one for catching a 15lb. Coho and six more for reeling in Halibut 50lbs. and over.

The winner of the Oak Bay Clock Award for the largest salmon of the trip went to Edwina Wright for her 36 lb. tyee. The large bait balls of herring and needlefish have lured the schools of salmon to linger a little while longer in the waters off Kano Inlet.

The Guests from trip 17 were almost at their catch limits as they tried to catch the BIG ONE. A few were brought in as Peter Barling's 75lb. Halibut and Jean Selle's 70l.b Halibut rounded out their day 4, with Anthony Adrian catching a 32lb Chinook followed by Jennifer Bromage and her 34lb. Tyee. Day 5 saw most of our guests relax but afew ventured forth and

Jennifer Bromage hauled in a 85lb. Halibut earingin her a place in our Captain's Club. It's still hot on the fishing grounds up at Kano Inlet and the weather for the most part has co-operated.
