1, 2, 3, 4... 5 Masterfishermen!

MV Salmon Seeker - August 9, 2007

QCI halibut fishingOur guests enjoyed ideal weather conditions today. The guides have been able to roam far and wide, seeking out many of the HOT spots that are only available in perfect weather.

Over the first three days of the current trip our fish freezer is filling up quickly. A big spot was taken up early this morning when Willie Gapen from Washington weighed in a 202 lb. barn door halibut. This qualifies Willie for a Masterfisherman Award, the first one so far this trip.

As I write this all our boats are back from their day’s fishing. We now have no less than five master fishermen in one day!

John Wilkins, who currently has the largest Chinook, came in with a 126 lb. halibut. The big fish of the day goes to Tommy Lau of California with a whopping 211 lb. barn door halibut. The oddity of today is the team of Moe Jones and Alan Johnston whose 174 lb. halibut had taken both their baits. They had to play the fish together so they were both awarded Master Fisherman status.

And tomorrow is another day… good fishing to all.
