266 lb Halibut!

MV Salmon Seeker - June 28, 2004

The big fishing story from Kano Inlet yesterday was the two hundred and sixty six pound halibut brought in by guest Tim Hoppe and guide Dave Beaton. This is the season record so far and probably the largest for several seasons. Two other guests had the unique experience of hooking up to the same one hundred and ten pound halibut and ended up fighting each other as well as the fish! It all ended well, and they'll definitely have a fish story to tell when they get home!

Salmon fishing continues to be scrappy with most fish being in the high twenties range, with a handful steadily approaching the 40 lb mark. Weather continues to be relatively calm with increasing northwest winds forecast for the next few days.
