An excellent start in the Queen Charlotte Islands

Queen Charlotte Islands Fishing Resorts - June 6, 2003

Reports coming in from the MV Charlotte Princess and MV Marabell anchored at Langara Island indicate that there have been fantastic opportunities for both salmon and halibut fishing. Chinook are averaging in the 20-35 lb range with lots in the 40 to 50+ range including a 70 lb beast caught at the island earlier in the week. There are plenty of double and triple headers out there with anglers finding the most success anywhere from 30-40 pulls. As for halibut, there are plenty in the 20-25 lb range in hotspots like the Lighthouse area. The largest so far, is an 80lb. monster. With fabulous weather (sunny skies, flat, calm sees and temperatures in the high teen and low 20's) and great fishing, the resorts are off to an excellent start.
