Trip number 18 got off to a rocky start with one of the worst summer storms we can remember, causing major delays for inbound and outbound guests. By Wednesday morning however, apart from the steady rain, there was a big improvement and the last couple of days even produced some sunshine.
The 50 knot winds must have blown the big fish in as a 265 lb. halibut was landed yesterday and that was topped today by the largest Chinook of the season: 54 lbs. The two lucky Master Fishermen were Jeff Fried with the hali and Greg Pierce with the salmon. Another 18 Tyee were taken over the three days and a one nice 15 lb. Coho.
Coho are now in abundance with many around 10 to 12 lbs. Halibut fishing has been difficult due to the weather and strong tides but a nice 115 pounder was taken by Greg Pierce to go with his 54 lb Chinook.
Good weather is forecast through to the middle of next week, so it’s happy days at the MV Salmon Seeker!
