Brilliant start at Kano Inlet

MV Salmon Seeker - May 31, 2006

Fishing is off to a great start at Kano Inlet again this year. We must have timed our arrival perfectly…

It was a little quiet on first night, after our long journey up the BC coastline. But over the next few days, it picked up nicely and the guides think this season’s going to be on fire!

Halibut have been coming in at 50+ lbs, and Chinook in the 30+ range. It’s almost as if the fish knew what was expected of them!

The weather has been fairly calm this week with gentle breezes. To welcome us, a large humpback whale circled the anchorage all morning, passing only feet from the ship while enjoying his meal of a few tons of small fish that have congregated here in large numbers.
