Dueling Richards

MV Salmon Seeker - July 24, 2006

Our outbound group of anglers were competing for the trip trophy for largest salmon right up until the end. Ron O’Dwyer held first place with a 36 lb. Chinook. Until yesterday, that is, when Richard Chin brought home a 37 pounder.

After all boats went out this morning, I prepared the trophy fof our traditional 10:00 am presentation. The last boat came in at 9:00 am and one our guests had a big smile on his face. At 86 years young, Richard Braaten was the eldest guest onbaord. We weighed up his fish and, wouldn't you know it, it was exactly 37 lbs.

Good thing I've got a supply of trip trophies on board, and Richard and Richard were crowned dual winners.

Today's inbound group was as eager as any I've ever seen, and had their gear on by the end of the safety presentation. Their eagerness was rewarded in the form of Susan Pattereson's 31 lbs. Chinook. That's a nice start to the trip.
