A ridge of high pressure has been building on the west coast of the Charlottes, giving us westerly winds with some clouds and drizzle. Seas were about five feet.
Friendly competition is in full force among our guestswith the introduction of “Captain’s Club” awards. One thinks that “Master Fisherman” status was enough but this Captain’s Club really got everyone going.
I know I am biased but the MV Salmon Seeker really is an un-rivalled fishing experience, as seen by the number of Master Fisherman and now Captain’s Club recipients.
The catch of the day is as follows:
40 Chinook, the largest was 32 lbs caught by Doug Raynolds of WA plus 12 halibut, the largest being 180 lbs. caught by Sukhona-Saaren. He was awarded a Master Fisherman status and a hat. We also had a few Coho, Pinks and Rock fish. Coho don't pick up in Kano Inlet until a little later in the season.
All in all, another magnificent fishing day.
Some trivia for your Friday morning: Why is it bad luck to open an umbrella indoor? The umbrella is an ancient African innovation and was intended as a shade against the sun. It was introduced to Europe through Spain in the 12th century as a protection from the rain. The superstition of bad luck if opened indoors came from the African belief that to open the umbrella in the shade was an insult to the sun God.
