Halibut day in the QCI

MV Salmon Seeker - June 24, 2007

Queen Charlotte Island fishingYesterday was a big halibut day at the MV Salmon Seeker. The top weight and Masterfisherman award went to Bill Wilkinson with a 106 pounder followed by a variety from 98 lbs. on down to the chickens.

Chinook were not being neglected and 33 lbs is currently leading the competion for the coveted trip trophy. Most guests are choosing to catch and release anything under 30 lbs. to clear their licenses clear for a big Tyee.

Today is probably the best weather day we have had this year—blue skies, sunshine and light winds but, as usual, a change is coming at us tomorrow. Shouldn't impact the salmon fishing though as most of the action is just a ten minute run down the inlet.
