The weather at our northern resort can sometimes be unpredictable but the latest tripenjoyed fair weather and the whole group limited out on Chinook and a Captains’ Club Coho of 15lbs. was caught by Patrick Flaherty. We saw plenty of other Coho in the 10lb. range. New Captains’ Club members for catching halibut in excess of 50 lbs. were Bruce Crisby 50 lbs.,Bruce Nelson 53 lbs. and Charlie Brushett Jr. with a 77 lbs. halibut. Captains’ Club inductees for catching salmon over 30 lbs. (tyee) were, Kevin Kinakin 30 lbs. , Steve Ahlfield 31 lbs., and the largest salmon of the trip (winner of the Screamin' Reel Alarm Clock) was Arthur McFarland with his 33 lb. Chinook.
The big story of the trip was Patrick Flaherty who was a catching machine: he received a double award as Masterfisherman for landing over 100 lb. halibut , July 22nd 166 lb. and July 23rd 114 lb. but he also earned Captains’ Club awards 3 times by catching 2 – 30 lb. and a 31 lb. Chinook. The awards and fish keep coming aboard the MV Salmon Seeker in Kano Inlet.
