Our guests from the most recent trip had some weather concerns with low cloud cover but great fishing and large tyees close at hand made for a happy ending with two Masterfisherman awards and 24 Captains’ Club members being added to the scrolls. Captains’ Club for coho over 15 lbs. go to David Lehman, Andre Vriesman, Rowland Wallace, Dal Abeene all with 15 lbs. and Allan Hupper with a 16 lb. coho. Captains’ Club for halibut over 50 lbs. went to Dinah Powell 50 lb., Allan Hupper and Ryan Lomez 59 lbs., Clarence and Elvie Powell 68 lbs.,Paul Kileen 76 lbs., and Gordon Powell 93 lb. halibut , the Powell Family all caught halibut over 50 lbs. Captains’ Club for salmon over 30 lbs. went to Ryan Berger and Greg Dahl 30lbs., Tom Englmaier, David Lehman, Neal Henning and Gordon Schmeiser 31 lbs., Percy Farrell 32 lbs., Stuart Wallace 33 lbs., and Neal Henning, Johann Berger, Rich Chambers all with 35 lb. Chinooks.
Masterfishermans’ awards went to Percy Farrell for hauling in a 142 lb. halibut and Eric Abeene for landing season record 263 lb. halibut. Finally the winner of the coveted Oak Bay Clock Award for the third time went to Rick Chambers for his catch of a 47 lb. Chinook near Kano point. In all this group hit some large coho and Chinooks that are invading Kano Inlet.
