The seas today were smooth and most guest opted for halibut fishing, targetting the low-water slack at 11:00.
I got a radio call at 11:00 on the nose, asking me to get the crane ready. This always a good sign — you only need a crane for a big fish.
Sure enough, David Carver nabbed the largest halibut of the season: a 281 pounder. He and his guide landed it of Kindaken Rock near the entrance to Kano Inlet. Nice work!
Chinook were biting today, too. Out of the 35 Kings that tipped the scales, Kathy Papola netted the largest: a 33 lb. beauty.
That’s all for now from Givenchy Anchorage at Kano Inlet.
