Queen Charlotte Islands Fishing Report

MV Salmon Seeker - June 13, 2006

Queen Charlottes salmon fishing lodgeHaving discovered a lot of salmon hanging around the entrance to the anchorage last night, guests hit the area at first light and were rewarded with strikes within seconds of putting the bait in the water. Together they brought in over 50 fish, including a 40 pound Chinook and a 54 pound halibut – all by breakfast time!

Just because it is the last morning doesn’t mean there isn’t any fishing!

Incoming guests went on the water in weather as warm as August and found some beautiful Chinook in the mid-twenties range; just the right size to limber up the hauling muscles! With the fish electing to move to the head of Kano Sound, they are now literally on the doorstep for guests of the MV Salmon Seeker. Transit time to fishing grounds is five minutes!

A few days back we celebrated the first masterfisherman of the season. Stacy Gowda of Kamlops brought in a 164 lb halibut on the first day of the trip.
