Queen Charlottes Fishing Update

MV Salmon Seeker - July 12, 2009

The same high pressure system is still hanging in our area with its fresh northwest winds, Fishing is enjoyable in this sunny weather.

Three anglers joined the Captain's Club today. June Hnatiuk got a 32 lb. Chinook, Dick Colvey got a 31 pounder, and Ken Guido landed a 63 lb. halibut.

In addition, we had a nice array of Chinook salmon over 25 lbs.

Here's your morning trivia: Do you know why we call the end of the day “evening” and why is it divided into “twilight” and “dusk”?

Twilight is defined by the ancient word twi, which means “half” or “between,” so twilight is the time between light and darkness. Dusk is the final stage of twilight and is from the lost English word dox, which means “dark” or “darker.” Evening comes from the ancient word aefen, meaning “late” and came to mean the general time between sunset and when you went to sleep.
