Salmon shark attacks salmon

MV Salmon Seeker - August 12, 2007

Good day to you all from the M.V. Salmon Seeker. Conditions for fishing were perfect today out of Kano Inlet. Calm seas, light winds and a little cloud cover proved to be the ticket for strong returns of all species.

Two barn door halibut over 100 lbs each means two more Masterfishermen added to our board of honour. Ken Laursen of B.C. weighed in a halibut of 121 lbs. and Don Jacques had one weighing 107 lbs. Many smaller halibut and Chinook to 35 lbs. also came in today. And for those who prefer, ling cod and red snapper for great fish and chips.

Yesterday we weighed in what was left of Ellie Norris’s Chinook. She managed to recover about two thirds of a shark0attacked fish. We had advised our guests of the presence of both blue and salmon sharks in our fishing area. If there was any doubt about their existence it was soon dispelled!

Tomorrow is another day, and here at Kano it could be even better. Good fishing.
