Salmon sharks and a new masterfisherman
MV Salmon Seeker - June 5, 2007Although this report is about today’s fishing, I would like to mention a couple of words about yesterday. It was change-over day so our new group of guests got about four hours of fishing. Nevertheless, I could not believe my eyes when they came back with their catch.
There was a 43 lb. Chinook caught by Matt Jenks of Washington and a 40 ½ pounder caught by Dick Buekhalter of Washington.
Gene and Robert Heuschel of Washington had a different experience. Both caught 22 lb. Chinooks but, while bringing their fish to the nets, a salmon shark got each of their tails! This was quite a show and they even caught it on film!
Moving forward, today was another great day due to weather and fishing. Charles Morrrilli of Washington was awarded the Masterfisherman award for landing a 118 lb. halibut. Robert Matson got today’s top salmon with a 35 lb. Chinook.
Upon they return to the MV Salmon Seeker guests enjoyed a gourmet dinner prepared by our experienced Chef Matt Dean and served under the directions of our energetic Chief Steward Forrest Jacob.
Now, some trivia to start your day. Where did the expression “room and board” come from?
During the seventeenth Century, old English inns offered their customers a wooden board, in the shape of a flat tray, to show that they paid for their rooms and meals. So the guest would go down with his board to show his entitlement to food services.
