Each afternoon at 16:00 we receive the weather forecast for the western Queen Charlotte Islands, an area that covers 176 statute miles of coastline. Yesterday afternoon called for moderate 5–15 knot winds. At 04:30 I listened to the automated report: 7 knots. By 08:00 I tuned in again: 0 knots. Needless to say, the western QCI have given us yet another awesome fishing day.
Our guests brought in a nice haul of 26 Chinook salmon, including a 44 pounder caught by Michael Frahm
For all your golfers out there, here is some trivia to start your day: why do golfers shout “fore” as a warning to those ahead of them?
When early cannons fired a barrage into enemy lines, over the heads of their own charging infantry, the shots were often imprecise. British artillery officers would shout “Beware before” as a warning for their own advancing troops .to watch out for misfired cannon balls. Over time it was abbreviated to “before”, then shortened to “fore”, which found its way into golf as a warning that a volley was on its way.
