I like to always to be the bearer of good news, but I must mention the gale-force winds that ripped through today. That kind of weather did not affect the gorgeousness of Givenchy Anchorage and Kano Inlet but the winds hampered our fishing efforts. Winds were south east from 25 to 35 knots and the seas were about six feet. As one will notice we still have two recipients who won Captain’s Club status.
Steve Craig of Alberta landed a nice 40 lb. Chinook with guide Matt Fuller and Erik Albrechtsen of Denmark nabbed a 33 lb. Chinook with guide Max Skaravik. Erik's countryman Tommy Knudsen hauled in a nice 35 lb. Chinook yesterday with guide Derek Resch.
And now, a little Wednesday trivia: do you know why should heavy drinkers wear an amethyst?
An amethyst is a pale blue to dark purple crystallized quartz and is a precious stone found in modern-day Iran, Iraq, Brazil, India and some parts of Europe. It was worn on the breastplates of high priests because the ancients believed that wearing or even touching an amethyst kept people from getting intoxicated no matter how much they drank. In Greek the word amethyst literally means “not intoxicating.”
